We use the Pass & Seymour 5266-X AC plug. It is a top quality no-nonsense unit that is built to last for years of use. It fits very snug into our recommended P&S 5262-AW outlet. It makes a lot of sense to upgrade both at the same time. You will find no better combination of parts that fit as well as the 5266-X & the 5262-AW. The wall outlet is solid one piece brass and makes an excellent connection with the power cable. This spec grade outlet will have an iron grip on the blades of the AC plug in comparison with most contractor grade outlets.
We use the Schurter 4782.0100 for our IEC plug. Once again it is an excellent quality unit that matches or exceeds the quality of many high-end audio products. Both of these connectors are well built, offer little mains impedance and are used widely by high-end audio companies.
True to our design philosophy the cable used in the Asylum Cable is great quality at a reasonable price. We use Belden 19364 which is UL approved and has three 14AWG stranded copper conductors inside a shielded & jacketed cable. We cover it with Techflex to pretty things up and the IEC is covered with heatshrink to provide strain relief.
We build the Asylum Cables for a reasonable price and they represent what we consider to be a common sense approach to high-end audio power cables. We don't believe in using cheap parts anywhere in our systems but at the same time, we don't want to spend money on voodoo and hype. The Asylum Power Cord delivers!
